I found my first success as an artist in doing small, graphite drawings. For many years, I did my initial compositional sketching in graphite, usually in small sketch pads. In 1997 I had the opportunity to exhibit some of these drawings that I culled from between the years 1989-1997. On average, these images are the size of postcards and have been generally developed via a soft hachure that eventually saturated the paper’s toothy, vellum surface .
