Landscape Painting

My first landscape paintings were done during the summer of 1989. I hiked every day near my home, around the Pawson Loop in Lincoln Woods. I would hike with a French easel and would walk off the road and look back toward it until I found an inspiring scene. I would paint until I felt the scene was represented satisfactorily. The conveyance of natural light grew in importance as I continued with these works. I was also impressed by the variations in greens that could be observed. Other scenes depict my wife’s garden and a small Quaker cemetery near my home. Given the necessity of portability, these worked were small, ranging from 10”x8” to 16”x12” .
